FcRn is a protein found naturally on some of your cells. Its normal job is to keep IgG antibodies circulating in your bloodstream longer. Under normal circumstances, that is a good thing since most IgG antibodies protect you from germs. But FcRn does not distinguish between helpful and harmful IgG antibodies.
